5 CELEBRITIES That Have Suffered With an Iron Deficiency (ANEMIA)

1. Venus Williams

In 2007, Venus Williams scared the world when she became unusually exhausted after a tennis match. She was initially taken to the hospital and diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia.

However, after a great deal of testing, they later discovered that while she did have an iron deficiency, it was being caused by an auto-immune condition known as Sjögren’s syndrome. This condition causes her to have fatigue and joint pain, as well as dry eyes and a lack of saliva. This disease is not curable, and it caused her to bow out of the 2011 US Open.

2. Selena Gomez

In 2011, Selena Gomez was taken to the hospital where she was found to be malnourished, exhausted and she had an iron deficiency anemia. Made popular for her boyfriend Justin Bieber and her hit show The Wizards of Waverly Place, her iron deficiency made her so tired she couldn't function.

Her hospitalization incident was right after an appearance on The Tonight Show where afterward she was unable to function. After a couple of rough years, Gomez learned that she has Lupus. 

There is no cure for the auto-immune condition Lupus, but the iron deficiency is just one of the hallmarks that come along with the disease.

3. Angelina Jolie

She's known for her vivacious curves, but Jolie became very sick in 2010 when she adopted a Vegan lifestyle. Though green leafy vegetables are known for their iron, they are not enough to provide the nourishment her body needed. 

Jolie did an interview when her blockbuster movie Salt was coming out. She told the masses that her life nearly ended because her iron deficiency caused her body to become very weak. She loves meat and said without the nutrients it provided, she didn't get the proper nutrition. Her body suffered as a result.

In 2009, she launched her entertainment career as the lead vocalist of all-girl pop group f(x). She later dabbled in acting, taking on supporting characters in series such as "High Kick 3" and "The Heirs." Her first leading role was in the series "My Lovely Girl."

There has been much controversy over the death of the young Brittany Murphy. After a prolonged sickness that seemed to leave her system weak, the official autopsy report said that Murphy died from acute pneumonia and severe iron deficient anemia.

Her death in 2009 shocked the nation and all her fans. What was even more surprising is that her husband, Simon Monjack, died in the same house just a short time later. His death was also ruled to be caused by acute pneumonia and severe anemia. 

This is one Hollywood mystery that has never been solved, but officials ruled iron deficiency played a role in the death of this beauty.
